This is a mostly visual post, where I just want to share some images with you.
I recently spent a few days in a very beautiful country house, and was captivated by some of the objects found in and around different rooms, as I felt these reflected the stillness of the place and carried some of its history. I spent many hours in the library, where the display cabinet looked quite different depending on the time of the day: in the mornings it was bathed by warm light while later in the afternoon, as the sun went down, it looked much cooler and almost grey.

This battered little sculpture of a lady and a cherub acted as a door stopper in the library and was usually in my line of sight from the sofa where I spent long periods reading or drawing each day.
The greenhouse was my second favourite place after the library: I felt a great sense of stillness there and enjoyed seeing how the Winter light moved around surfaces and objects at different times of the day.
What objects or combinations of objects capture your eye? Feel free to share images and post comments on my Facebook page, I’d love to hear from you.

ARTIST & MAKER
My work is often humorous and whimsical – unless my romantic side takes over and then we enter into a fairy-tale territory of old-fashioned script, pages of books and music scores populated by chivalrous gentlemen, glamorous ladies, butterflies and rabbits.
