The intriguingly named Zora Arkus Duntov House is home to my dear friends Carole and David, who have taken on the challenge of transforming the ground floor of their imposing Edwardian house into a pop-up gallery for both weekends of the Dulwich Artists’ Open House.
Zora Arkus Duntov was a legend in the automotive industry: a Belgian-born American engineer whose work on the Chevrolet Corvette earned him the nickname “Father of the Corvette.” If you are as much into cars as my friend Dave is, you may want to read Zora’s Wikipedia entry here.

The Arkus Collective:

The host of the group exhibition is Carole Jordan, a talented ceramicist whose raku-fired vessels are inspired by travel and ancient cultures. Her tactile, elegant pieces are truly unique, each one made by hand and glaze-fired in a raku kiln.

Ceramicist Mari Balsama Wilson, whose pots are inspired by Japanese Kurinuki techniques, is showing her work with The Arkus Collective for the first time.

Jeweller Odette Selva will also be there with her collection of contemporary jewellery of striking geometric pieces in silver and semi-precious stones.

And of course last but not least, I will be there too, with my pictures, glass dishes, greeting cards and more. I’ll be unveiling a collection of very special watercolours, which is still a work-in-progress, and will also have new floral gouache paintings in a variety of sizes.

My work is often humorous and whimsical – unless my romantic side takes over and then we enter into a fairy-tale territory of old-fashioned script, pages of books and music scores populated by chivalrous gentlemen, glamorous ladies, butterflies and rabbits.
