I am truly excited to open my studio to the public for the first time this year on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 June as part of the Camberwell Arts Festival. Numerous other events and exhibitions will be happening over the weekend, including a showcase by the local group Warrior Artists on Butterfly Walk and the Ruskin Park Summer Fete on Saturday from 12 noon to 6 pm. While details are not yet available online, you can collect a festival brochure to help plan your itinerary around Camberwell when you visit the studio.
At my studio, you’ll find a joyful mix of artworks in all sorts of sizes and media — there’s definitely something for everyone. I’ll be showing a selection of gilded collages from the Looking at You series, which have had a lovely response at recent fairs and events (thank you if you stopped by!).
Lately, I’ve also been playing with something completely different: colourful gouache paintings of flowers in vases — some based on real blooms, others straight from imagination. It’s been such a pleasure to experiment with gouache and watercolour, and I can’t wait to share these new pieces with you.
And who knows — there might be a few landscapes and faces thrown in too, depending on what I manage to finish in time!
Curious? You can get a peek behind the scenes over on my Instagram where I’ve been sharing some work-in-progress snaps.
You’ll also get to see a range of the articulated collage dolls seen on the back wall below, as well as my much weirder upcycled mannequins and vintage dolls which are loved and reviled in equal measure.
There will be lots of pictures to choose from, both framed and unframed, starting at £65 for signed giclee prints. A small selection can be seen in the gallery display below.
Elsewhere in the Mews: Pauline Amphlett, Emanuele Gori and Paul Draper
Printmaker Pauline Amphlett will be participating in the Open Studios Weekend at 8 Empress Mews where she will showcase an array of prints on paper, including a series of exquisite etchings inspired by her collection of antique and unusual scissors. Additionally, visitors can explore her beautiful screen-printed and hand-blocked textiles. For those who travel or enjoy painting outdoors, she will also have brush rolls crafted from vibrant African wax fabrics, perfect for storing and transporting brushes.
Find the work of fine artists Paul Draper and Emanuele Gori at 2 Empress Mews, where an impressive collection awaits you, featuring everything from architectural drawings and prints to stunning sculptures.
Paul is renowned for his architectural drawings, particularly his captivating aerial views and perspectives of buildings that were either conceived but never realised, or constructed yet later demolished. His meticulous work in pen and ink, alongside watercolour, beautifully captures his deep passion for perspective and intricate architectural detail. Emanuele, a versatile artist, excels as a painter, sculptor, ceramicist, and etcher. His creations are predominantly figurative, grounded in highly detailed life drawings. Visitors can look forward to an array of ceramic raku-fired panels, bronze sculptures, and paintings across various media, catering to every taste and budget.

ARTIST & MAKER
My work is often humorous and whimsical – unless my romantic side takes over and then we enter into a fairy-tale territory of old-fashioned script, pages of books and music scores populated by chivalrous gentlemen, glamorous ladies, butterflies and rabbits.
