I’m delighted to be opening my studio to the public together with two very talented invited artists on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October, as part of the Lambeth Open Weekend. This is annual event that celebrates the diversity and colour of our wonderful South London borough and there will be some 20 art and craft studios opening their doors for the weekend – you can download a map showing all venues here.
I am currently working on a new series of large mixed-media collages, the first of which you can see below. They won’t be listed online until after the Open Studio so this will be the first opportunity to see them – trust me when I say that these artworks truly come alive when experienced in person! If you’re curious to catch a glimpse of the work-in-progress images for some of the creations that will be on display, head over to my instagram feed.
‘After the rain’, mixed media collage on craddled board, 50 x 70 cm
There will be lots of pictures to choose from at the Open Studio, ranging from affordable giclee prints to collages and large mixed-media pieces on paper and board at the higher end of the spectrum.
INVITED ARTISTS:
Jess Quinn
JESS QUINN has a truly unique and captivating vision. Her artwork delves into the depths of female archetypes and the experience of the female artist, all while confronting her own inner demons. Through her paintings, she beautifully portrays the struggle to survive and create within the confines of a restrictive and oppressive domestic space. It’s a battle to find her voice, assert her independence, and balance the demands of motherhood with her artistic pursuits. Quinn masterfully intertwines real-life events, cherished memories, and fictional elements, drawing inspiration from fairy tales, folklore, and the rich tapestry of art history.
‘Barefoot in the Park’, acrylic on canvas, 46 x 61cm
Two small works on paper: ‘Protecting my younger self’ and ‘Self protrait as a younger woman’
Jess is a multi-talented artist who effortlessly navigates through various artistic media. With the stroke of a brush or the delicacy of a pencil, she brings to life intriguing landscapes and thought-provoking portraits that evoke a tapestry of emotions. From acrylic and gouache to oil paints, Jess’s creations on canvas and paper showcase her boundless creativity. Each ome of her pieces is a unique expression, created to immerse you in a world of colors, textures, and boundless imagination.
‘The Monster’s Ball’, oil on canvas, 122 x 152 cm
Nikki Ward
NIKKI WARD‘s artworks are meticulously handcrafted with scalpel, glue, and tweezers, carefully assembled within beautifully-crafted taxidermy boxes. Each delicate piece is encased in exhibition-grade anti-reflective glass and elegantly framed with authentic passe-partout tape. Nikki’s creations are born from a unique fusion of found vintage objects and carefully curated books, resulting in awe-inspiring works of art. Each piece is a testament to the transformative power of art, where forgotten relics are reborn into extraordinary masterpieces.
‘Histor’, paper-cut sculpture, 17.5 x 36 x 7.5 cm
‘Moths and wardrobe’, paper-cut sculpture, 36.5 x 17.5 x 7.5cm
Nikki can also transform your personal treasures into unique 3-D creations. At the Open Studio you will not just witness her artistry firsthand, but also have the opportunity for an informal chat about potential commissions through which you can collaborate with Nikki and bring your vision to life.
‘Palm’, paper sculpture, 16.6 x 16.5 x 7.5 cm

ARTIST & MAKER
My work is often humorous and whimsical – unless my romantic side takes over and then we enter into a fairy-tale territory of old-fashioned script, pages of books and music scores populated by chivalrous gentlemen, glamorous ladies, butterflies and rabbits.
